1) What is the ECDL - my version / Preface and facts

The organization is defining an educational programme for the concept of an european wide standardized computer-user. It is easy for the employer to select between applications if he is given the evidence of the computer-driving-licence. The curriculum of the ECDL is clearly defined (see here). Last but not least there are some costs for the candidate...
The structure of the driving licence:

• Basic Concepts of Information Technology ,
• Using a Computer and Managing Files
• Word Processing
• Spreadsheets
• Databases/Filing Systems
• Presentations and drawing
• Information Network Services

Facts:

A testcenter has to pay ECU 700 once for licencing the ECDL from the OCG The testcenter buys an amount(!!) of empty "skills-cards" from the OCG A test-candidate has to pay ECU 50 for his "skills-card" (-: Would be of interest what the OCG has to pay for it's representation in Austria :-)
