Teleworking: A Course using the Internet

Calculating the costs and benefits of teleworking from the individual point of view

Introduction

The goal of our work is to evaluate the costs and benefits of telework.
Cost and benefits can be analysed in two different ways: On a non-monetary basis and on a monetary basis.

It should enclose parameters like:

• Distances, savings for not using any vehicle
• Any kind of maintenances
• Aspects of business-life
• Social behaviours like doing the gardening, the opinions of the neighbourhood
• Investements for the house

The Excel Spreadsheet that you will find here, tries to calculate costs and benefits exclusively on a monetary basis. It turned out that this is more complicated as we thought.
The next section tries to give an overview of the problems we were faced to during our work. In the section after you will find a documentation to the Excel Spreadsheet where the calculations are explained in detail.
