Which operating system does SAT need?

Because SAT analyzes the file permissions of NTFS-volumes (which are only available in Windows NT), SAT is designd to work with Windows NT 4.0. This release does not support the NTFS permission settings of the "Microsoft Security Configuration Editor".

SAT does not work with Windows 95 or Windows 98!
The current version also is not compatible with Windows 2000.

Known restrictions of the current version:

The display of effective rights for global groups is not implemented until now. So "Effective rights" gives the same listing as if you select "Trustee" for this group.
SAT does not support you with an owner-analysis, only with an analysis of the ACLs (Access Control Lists)
When analysing multiple domain-controllers (DCs) of one domain, there are problems when viewing the permissions of (built-in) local groups of the DCs. This is because SAT treats local groups as local per computer. Within multiple domain controllers, also local groups are replicated. So local groups on DCs are somehow "global" too.
